Roald Dahl Matilda Word Educational Games

For all little bookworms out there, Matilda's Splendid Spelling Game is perfect for encouraging a love of letters and word creation. Designed to aid both Key Stage 1 and 2 learning through play, the set contains three educational and creative spelling games featuring one of Roald Dahl’s best-loved characters for plenty of 3-in-1 spelling fun!

Developed with guidelines for Key Stage 1 & 2 these fun-packed games will help children develop spelling and word-building skills while maintaining the fun and enjoyment of a card game.

Game 1: The Bookworm Game To win the game you need to be the first player to collect 10 bookworm cards for Matilda by creating words from your hand of cards. 

Game 2: Matilda’s Word Grid Game. The aim of the game is to create as many words as possible in one minute. 16 cards are laid out in a 4 x 4 grid on the table, letter side up and the timer is started. 

Game 3: Matilda’s Wordstack Game. Each player starts with 10 cards face up, five additional cards are then dealt face up in the middle known as the stack. Each player then takes turns to add letters from their own cards to the stack to form a word. 

Each of the three creative spelling games has been designed for two to four players and is suitable for ages 6 years and over.
